Post 7: The Enlightened One

 Buddha

Everyone has heard of the term enlightenment, it is often taught in school during history, philosophy, and theology classes. We know of one person who has truly reached personal enlightenment: The Buddha. While he isn't considered a deity, rather an idealistic figure, he has many who believe him to be transcended above other humans. Buddha wasn't always enlightened. Prior to his change, he was a man by the name of Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha spent many years trying to reach enlightenment, but prior to that he was a wealthy child. He was born into royalty in Nepal. Siddhartha started his journey since he was moved by the suffering of  people around the world. He attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree.

Post 12: Goddess of Volcanoes

PELE Pele is the Hawaiian goddess of Volcanoes and Flame. She controls the volcanoes of Hawaii and the fires they produce.  Pele is also known as the spirit that shapes the sacred land.  Since she controls the volcanoes she is considered one of the most vital deities in Polynesia. If Pele never existed then the volcanoes would never have existed nor, in turn, would the islands of Hawaii of formed.  She is not a purely benevolent goddess. She seeks to protect those who inhabit her land and protects them from all foreign forces that endanger them. To Hawaiians she is the reason why they have land to live on, beautiful nature, and safety from the volcanoes. Pele in control of volcano
