Post 8: The Storm God

Susano Susano was born into power and made to rule over others. He was given this tremendous power but misused it. His family had been rulers and his sister was the benevolent Amaterasu, who ruled the sky and sun. Susano ruled over the sea and storms. He's a violent deity who took many lives for the fun of it. His actions eventually led to his fall from grace. On his way to the underworld, he stopped at Earth and met humans whose families were murdered. Susano decided to change his ways and protect these humans and avenge their families. Susano never fully changed and continues to struggle between the raging storm and calm sea within himself. Post 7: The Enlightened One

Buddha Everyone has heard of the term enlightenment, it is often taught in school during history, philosophy, and theology classes. We know of one person who has truly reached personal enlightenment: The Buddha. While he isn't considered a deity, rather an idealistic figure, he has many who believe him to be transcended above other humans. Buddha wasn't always enlightened. Prior to his change, he was a man by the name of Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha spent many years trying to reach enlightenment, but prior to that he was a wealthy child. He was born into royalty in Nepal. Siddhartha started his journey since he was moved by the suffering of  people around the world. He attained enlightenment under the  Bodhi tree. Post 6: The Dark God

Chernobog Chernobog is the evil god against which the ancient Slavs feared and prayed. He is known to cause horrifying events or disasters wherever he is. He is a truly malevolent being and looks to only bring sorrow and pain among the people. He is often compared to the Christian devil; this depiction is far wrong as the devil may have other goals, but not Chernobog, he only commits these atrocities because he wants to. He is said to come only at night fully clothed in black with long, white hair. Chernobog as depicted Chernobog is obviously horrendous as he is said to be the incarnation of evil and used to scare Slavic peasants into attending prayers. He only cares for his own happiness which comes from the despair of others.

Post 5: Ruler of the Heavens

Olorun The Yoruban people inhabit Western Africa; they are both an ethnic group and a religious group. Olorun, who rules the heavens, is one of the Yoruban deities. Olorun is interpreted very differently across the different areas of Africa. Although there are some differences Olorun is widely known as the ruler of heaven. Olorun is half of the pair that created the planet we live on today, his other half being  Olokun. Before Olorun, there was only the sky and the sea. Olorun is the equivalent of the Christian God or the Muslim Allah. Unlike Allah or God, Olorun is not directly worshipped by his followers. Olorun creating life There is nothing much to "judge" Olorun on, he is a creator and not much else. In Yoruban eyes, if it weren't for Olorun we would not exist.

Post 4: The Sun God

RA  When we look into the sky at the blazing ball of fire we see what the Egyptians believed to be a deity or at least something one was controlling. The god they believed to see was Ra; he is the king of all Egyptian gods along with being the god of the sun. Ra is another very well-known, deity being referenced across all forms of media and games. Prior to Ra, there was nothing: no land, no light, no humans, no Gods. When Ra came into existence he started creating everything else using fragments of himself. Ra was already one of the strongest beings but he merged with another god, Amun creating Amun-Ra, the strongest god in Egypt. Ra and the Sun Ra is interesting due to the sheer power he is seen to hold. He can vaporize mortals whenever he pleases and can overpower almost any god. He is quite well known, making appearances in many media including more recent things such as Call of Duty.

Post 3: Hound of Hades

Cerberus Cerberus is a being that most would be able to recognize but not name or describe the backstory of. He is depicted as a three-headed dog and as the pet of Hades, ruler of the underworld. Cerberus guards the gate to the underworld. One of the reasons he's so recognizable is because of his inclusion in film and TV. There is a film called Cerberus, but he is also included in productions such as Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, Hercules (the Disney  one), and Clash of the Titans. He is the final labor of Hercules, who needed help from many to complete the labor  attesting to Cerberus' strength. Cerberus above dead I think Cerberus is cool because of all the pop culture references he garners yet so little is known about his backstory in ancient Greece. He is referenced in TV, film, music, podcasts, comics, and many books.
